The 65th Grammys are in the books, and the women did not come to play. A ceremony that started as almost exclusively male is now being taken over by women who not only know how to sing, but also know how to dress. From ball gowns to simple silhouettes, the red carpet saw it all.
New mom Paris Hilton arrived in a dress jeweled from head to toe with a relatively simple silhouette. However, the top had a bold cutout right down the center chest, perfectly on brand for Hilton. Metallic bejeweled looks were also seen on Mary J. Blige who wore a form fitting The Blonds dress with cutouts on the hips, and Shoshana Bean who had a bold silver metallic collar with her on her two-piece ensemble.
Doja Cat wore a black mermaid silhouette dress with matching gloves, looking ready to kill in a latex like material. Following a similar theme, Hannah Monds wore a dress that incorporated a bondage top, but she added a pop of color in with her hot pink ball gown skirt.
Many guests also wore ensembles with a very structured or geometric shape. Viola Davis, who became an EGOT (receiver of an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony) wore a sparkly Naeem Khan dress that’s pattern was not only made of different squares, but the bottom two layers of the dress’s shirt were structured rectangles themselves that ended in fringe. H.E.R also wore a black dress with a unique shape, with the bodice abruptly flaring out, with a straight black skirt underneath.
A couple guests took the geometric drama up a notch by wearing looks that even covered their head. Cardi B stunned in a royal blue Gaurav Gupta dress that had structured three dimensional sleeves that partially covered her head and face to create a faux-hood look. Dencia wore a black dress that had a pop of bedazzled blue at the top completely encompassing her shoulders, neck, and head. Blac Chyna looked straight out of Swan Lake as she wore a bold, black feathery body suit that also wrapped around the entirety of her upper body.
Winning the night. we can of course not forget about Lizzo. The “About Damn Time” star spent minutes on the red carpet with her orange elaborate Dolce and Gabbana look that was composed of a cape made of flowers and an orange dress with sparkle accents underneath. She definitely brought the “wow factor!”
Other wow factor contenders include Kacey Musgraves who showed up in a light pink bodysuit with a matching feather cape, Brazilian artist Anita who added a bunch of drama through texture and fabric in her mermaid dress, and Kelsea Ballerini who popped in her sunshine yellow dress with cut outs.
Fans were also excitedly anticipating Taylor Swift, who only has four nominations due to the timing of her latest album. The “Midnights” singer wore a midnight blue two piece ensemble, which the top artist known for her hints and easter eggs probably planned.
The red carpet was a strong beginning to music’s most important night of the year with looks we will not forget.
